Smugglers Shoot At Agents During Drug Bust

Border Patrol agents came under fire during a smuggling bust near Douglas, gps with backup camera Arizona on Monday.
Agents made a bust of more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana.
Around 10:30pm, agents saw two trucks using ramps to cross over the Arizona/Mexico border.
Remote camera surveillance operators helped field agents track down the trucks.
When the agents got close to the scene, the suspected smugglers tried to escape back into Mexico.
Agents deployed a tire deflation device and successfully stopped both trucks just north of the border fence.
At this time, a third vehicle was seen south of the border. Agents say a suspect fired an automatic rifle towards the agents.
Agents say several other suspects began unloading marijuana from one of the trucks and threw the bundles back into Mexico. Agents say the suspects then set fire to the truck.
Agents were able to secure the second truck still on the U.S. side of the border. Insidewere 1,158 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $1 million.
No agents were injuredno suspects were arrested.
