Smugglers Shoot At Agents During Drug Bust

Border Patrol agents came under fire during a smuggling bust near Douglas, gps with backup camera Arizona on Monday.
Agents made a bust of more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana.
Around 10:30pm, agents saw two trucks using ramps to cross over the Arizona/Mexico border.
Remote camera surveillance operators helped field agents track down the trucks.
When the agents got close to the scene, the suspected smugglers tried to escape back into Mexico.
Agents deployed a tire deflation device and successfully stopped both trucks just north of the border fence.
At this time, a third vehicle was seen south of the border. Agents say a suspect fired an automatic rifle towards the agents.
Agents say several other suspects began unloading marijuana from one of the trucks and threw the bundles back into Mexico. Agents say the suspects then set fire to the truck.
Agents were able to secure the second truck still on the U.S. side of the border. Insidewere 1,158 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $1 million.
No agents were injuredno suspects were arrested.

While superheroes may have taken over Hollywood, the video-game world has been harder for them to conquer. Sure, recent games featuring Iron Man and Spider-Man have sold well, but they haven't fired up gamers the way that a typical Grand Theft Auto or Madden NFL release does.
Maybe that's because video-game protagonists are already superpowered. A tough customer like Marcus Fenix ( Gears of War ) or Master Chief ( Halo ) could probably kick Batman all the way back to the Batcave. Gamers like their heroes homegrown - although comic-book stars are welcome in the virtual world, if the game's done right.

Here's one of those what if? scenarios that comic-book writers love so much: Who would win a fight between Sub-Zero and Superman? Or Kitana and Catwoman?
Yes, it's 11 popular Mortal Kombat fighters vs. 11 of DC Comics' famous heroes and villains. Midway has added a few new twists: Characters can pound each other through walls and fight in midair, and the developers have toned down the violence to get a teen-friendly rating.
As always with this genre, it's much more fun to play against a friend than against the computer. MK vs. DCU is decent fan service, but it won't hold the interest of anyone who doesn't care about both ends of its equation. Two stars out of four.

And the boss battles against third-string Marvel villains like Electro and Vulture go on forever. This lighthearted romp is a real treat for Batmaniacs of all ages. The Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face and other miscreants are on the loose (again) in Gotham City, and it's up to Batman and Robin to stop their reign of terror.
The game is a mix of easy combat, clever puzzle-solving and an occasional ride in the Batmobile. And it's always a kick to bust open a box of blocksreassemble them into some goofy weapon. The developers need to sort out a few issues (static camera angles, crummy artificial intelligence), but Lego Batman makes the Caped Crusader fun again. Three stars.

NAZI salutes are never a good thing. Just ask Belgian footballer Daniel Guijo-Velasco.
Controversy has broken out in Holland after the Helmond player was caught on camera delivering the Nazi salute against RBC Roosendaal in a First Division match last week.
The 24-year-old twice raised his arm and put his finger to his upper lip to gesture towards RBC's midfielder Mels van Driel, camera enclosure with the referee failing to take action on either occasion.

Sweet FA: Swearing And Nudity In Cup Clash
Histon's historic FA Cup giant-killing against Leeds got a little too real for ITV at the weekend as it broadcast swearing and full-frontal nudity.
Problems began after fans commandeered a pitchside microphone and best camera mobile proceeded with a foul-mouthed chant during live coverage of the second-round tie.
Then, after lowly Histon knocked out the once-mighty Leeds, a player from the Cambridge side let his exuberance get the better of him by celebrating with a naked dance during a post-match dressing room interview.
To be fair to him, he was probably in such a delirium that he didn't even realise he had no clothes on, nor that he was on live television.
Earlier fans, believed to be travelling Leeds supporters, camera holder leaned over the hoardings at the side of the pitch, removed a microphone and clock camera began chanting: 'ITV are f s.'
An ITV spokesman said: 'Unfortunately, during the live broadcast of the FA Cup match, one of the pitchside microphones was removed from its position by some fans and taken into the crowd where it picked up some swearing.

Had it picked up the utterings of Leeds' fans after their team had lost 1-0 to the Blue Square Premiership side it might have been even worse.
Histon, whose single goal was scored by postman Matt Langston, however, were jubilant, as the joyous scenes in their dressing room showed. The ITV spokesman added: 'During the post-match interviews conducted among the celebrations following Histon's historic win over Leedsa naked player was very briefly visible in the background of the shot.
'As soon as this became apparent the programme producer immediately cut to another camera.'
The broadcaster was unaware of any complaints.
Histon will play Swansea in the third round of the competition.

No American Limp-wristedness In India
While there are few Westerners who were not appalled by the terrorist attacks in the coastal city of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India, last week, one would hope that security and intelligence interests in the West are paying closer attention to the incidents than the average American.
Beginning on Nov. 26, ten members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terrorist group with roots in Pakistan and alleged ties to al-Qaida, stealthily arrived in the city by sea and began systematic attacks on targets within Mumbai that may have been planned for a year or more.
It is likely that Mumbai was chosen by the Islamic extremist group because the city is home to key financial institutions, many major Indian companies, several multinational corporations and India's film and television industry (known as Bollywood). As such, it is an assortment of many communities and cultures, including Western interests.
Throughout the siege, I found a wealth of insight in the coverage from live streams of English-language news organizations in India. It brought the tragedy, half a world away, much closer to home.
There was universal outrage on the part of Indian news correspondents as well as bystanders and rescued hostages who were interviewed. Angry and disgusted that these murdering vermin had invaded one of their cities to terrorize Indians and foreign guests alike, there was no sense of concern that the terrorists might be denied 'due process' by the Indian commandos and police charged with resolving the crisis.

There were very lively discussions between some of the correspondents and interviewees, with many calling for tighter and more wide-ranging security, particularly in seaports like Mumbai, and in border regions. Overall, the attitudes of Indians on-camera was much more common-sense than we've seen in America of late, with zero tolerance for terrorism and a belief that people ought to be able to go out to dinner without being summarily executed by bloodthirsty sub-humans.
The National Security Guards, or NSG, established in 1986, is India's elite counterterrorist force. To anyone watching the television coverage from India, it was obvious what the NSGs orders were: Storm terrorists' positions, kill them and rescue any hostages that remained alive. While this might rub certain more limp-wristed Americans the wrong way, it did make for a speedy resolution to the crisis, all things considered.
One cannot help but wonder how a similar situation might have been handled in a major American city. Given the tentativeness of attitudes here and camera mirage undue sympathy for our enemies in some sectors, it might have developed into a drama lasting for weeks or months.
One criticism widely expressed after the siege ended was that the NSG might have been able to engage the terrorists sooner had they not been relegated to glorified bodyguard status, assigned to protect high-ranking politicians rather than being at-the-ready in the event of attacks such as the one that eventually occurred. The peoples' ire, expressed in later protests, was reserved for the political class.

While initial reports asserted that Westerners were being selectively targeted, it became clear that the terrorists were slaying random Indians with equal relish. Rescued American hostages reported to Indian television that foreigners had been instructed to inform the terrorists if they held U.S. or British passports, but it is evident from the number of casualties and Qasab's assertions that the gunmen were shooting at anything that moved.
The NSG and police, who were also universally lauded by the press, came off as incredibly professional. While broaching no nonsense from reporters but clearly concerned for their safety, access allowed to the hotspots spoke of a freer press than even the United States. While the coverage might not have been as polished as that we're used to, it was incredibly informative and genius camera comprehensive. Those fortunate enough to view some of this were able to see events develop that were reported later in the Western press.
One thing remains clear: Indians have no intention of compromising their social freedoms and economic progress on account of terrorism. There won't be an outcry when captured terrorists are tried and camera professionnel executed. There won't be accusations of the government having set the whole thing up. There won't be tentative arguments that perhaps India 'had it coming' for doing business with Westerners or Jews. There won't be entreaties for conciliation toward anything that might upset Muslims at home or abroad.
Would that we possessed these sensibilities here in America.

'The Pacifica Tribune, repeating data from the county election office, stated that the top two vote-getters in the City Council election received 30.38 percent and 23.47 percent of the votes, respectively. This implies that overwhelming majorities voted for neither candidate. But the data are being presented in a misleading manner, because voters were permitted to vote for up to two candidates. As an example, suppose there were only two candidates, and everyone voted for both. Each candidate would have received every vote he/she could possibly have received, but the county election office would report that each candidate received only 50 percent of the votes. But it is possible to provide more realistic numbers: 15,670 ballots were turned in, and a total of 23,635 votes were cast. If everyone who turned in a ballot voted for two council candidates, 31,340 votes would have been cast, so we know not everyone voted for two candidates. But we cannot know how many voted for one or none. Therefore, the greatest number of voters for council is 15,670,the least is 11,818. If 3,852 voters chose to leave the council portion of their ballot blank, then Mary Ann Nihart received a vote from about 61 percent of those who voted in the council election. On the other hand, if all 15,670 Pacifica voters voted for at least one council candidate, Nihart received a vote from 46 percent of the voters, which would still be a far cry from the 30.38 percent reported in the news.' On Tuesday, Nokia, the world's largest mobile handset manufacturer, launched the N97 handset and also showcased updates to its navigation and messaging services. The latest set will act as another potential rival to Apple's iPhone.

Sticking with child-stars who're all growed up 'Harry Potter' Daniel Radcliffe is having to reconcile himself to being known forever as JK Rowling's little wizard.
His turn in the play 'Equus', which has seen him getting his kit off for London and New York theatre-goers has gone some way towards de-Potter-ising the 19 year old's image but the spectre of those round glasses and digital camera recorder that stripey scarf remains.
'It's a reality you have to come to terms with rather than letting it bother you, just accept the fact that there will always be some people who will forever see you for the one part you are most famous for,' says a sanguine Radcliffe. 'It's not that I want to distance myself from it because... they've given me everything; it's just a matter of being an actor rather than a character.'
And what about still-child star Dakota Fanning any regrets at having spent the bulk of her formative year in front of a camera?
No, says 14-year-old Fanning: 'I don't want to be normal. This is my childhood. I've been to Australia, travelled and learned about different cultures some people never leave the country in their entire lifetime. My job has opened my mind up and enriched my childhood.' Swell.
Lindsay Lohan's cute, freckle-faced performance in 'The Parent Trap', and the rest of her career as a child star, certainly enriched her parents that it enriched her childhood, I'm not so sure. Whatever on-set schooling she got clearly didn't take. The ability to write coherently isn't a Lindsay strong point as evinced by her frequent rambling and only semi-comprehensible musings on her MySpace page.
A recent one of her blog entries decries the trials and fast digital camera tribulations she's suffered at the hands of another social networking site; namely, Facebook. Seems they thought the fake name Lohan signed up with was, well, fake.

I Missed You, Jean-Claude Van Damme
Those do-gooders are all a bunch a pitiful losers, every last one of them. Want results? You have to go to the Schwarzeneggers, the Stallones, and to a lesser extent, the Van Dammes.
Bart Simpson, episode 2F17, 'Radioactive Man'
When I was growing up, that line infuriated me. I loved Bloodsport more than any Stallone or Schwarzenegger movie -- still do -- and wanted Bart to see Van Damme as their equal. Instead, my hero made so many stinkers that he stopped getting theatrically released in the States about a decade ago.
Then a crazy Algerian director named Mabrouk el Mechri decided to remake Dog Day Afternoon and cast Van Damme as himself. What resulted was probably Van Damme's best-reviewed movie ever, though that's not saying much. He was back in theaters in America, albeit in the arthouse: new territory for the Muscles from Brussels. Finally, his terrible filmography worked in his favor, as critics gave him numerous backhanded compliments for his surprisingly decent acting. 'Van Damme proves himself a brave, possibly foolhardy actor, which is more than Steven Seagal ever did,' wrote the Chicago Tribune's Michael Philips.
And that seemed to be the general reaction in the arthouse too. When I went to buy my ticket, the cashier told me he'd only seen the first half, 'But it's okay.' Then he said, 'You know, Van Damme's sort of like Steven Seagal -- some of his movies are great, some are terrible.' Seagal, I thought. Philistine.
As it turns out, the movie is about the best movie you could expect for a remake of Dog Day Afternoon with Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself: saggy, unwieldy, but funny, captivating, and gps with backup camera a welcome return to celebrity for my favorite C-list star.
It is, as is the way of these things, endlessly self-referential. Van Damme is like Malkovich in Being John Malkovich, like Bruce Willis in What Just Happened?, like Pamela Anderson in Borat, clearly having fun playing himself, sending up his own image, gratified to be in a movie better than much of his filmography, and looking forward to the inevitable critical plaudits for showing 'range.' There are two things that always get a critic to use the adjective 'brave': an actor playing himself, and camera de recul a middle-aged actress doing a nude scene. Van Damme's cagey enough to take advantage of it.
The plot is simple: an aging actor named Jean-Claude Van Damme, harried by a losing custody battle, an agent who can't get him into any good movies (who tells him he lost another part to Steven Seagal), and a lack of funds, gets caught up in a bank robbery that everyone thinks he committed, because he can be seen from the window. Van Damme's character is so tired, so beaten by the world, he could practically be played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
After the opening scene, a hilarious one-shot action sequence from a nameless low-budget Asian film complete with phantom punches and ridiculous weapons, Van Damme rarely brandishes his feet of fury, instead acceding to the robbers' requests and repeating his one catchphrase in the film: 'Don't shoot.'
The centerpiece of the film is a strange, extended monologue, complete with tears, delivered straight to the camera, as Van Damme talks about his life, his disappointment, and explosion proof camera his hope that he won't die, complete with weepy overacting. It doesn't completely work, but like the rest of the film, it's weirdly captivating, and as the camera pans back out to the rest of the scene, somehow hilarious.
Eventually the hostage situation is resolved,the movie ends without much denouement. It wasn't about plot, after all. It was about the man. And if this movie can do for JCVD even half of what Harold & Kumar did for NPH, it'll be a resounding success. You're back in the limelight, Jean-Claude. Don't blow it this time.

??As is the case with RCN-TV, most current broadcast upgrades need to offer the ability to transmit both in SD and HD,?? says Carlos Fernandez, owner of SEEL, the systems integrator who handled the upgrade at RCN. ??In addition to being well-constructed, Gepco cables have the bandwidth to handle both SD and HD signals, so the station will not need to lay new cable when the switch to HD occurs.??
The upgrade at RCN-TV incorporates Gepco??s HDC920 SMPTE 311M hybrid fiber cable for high-definition video cameras, LVT61859 extra-flexible triaxial camera cable, VSD2001 high-definition coax cable, VPM2000 high-definition coax cable, 61801EZ single-pair audio cable and MP1201 quad-star microphone cables.
Another major obstacle during the RCN-TV upgrade was distance. Some films aren't about to let viewers off the hook easily - some films want you to work for a happy ending. 'Slumdog Millionaire' is that kind of film. There's a happy ending skulking around in the shadows of this underdog tale. In order to reach it, you have to travel through the thick and crime-infested slums of Mumbai, India.
For company, we have Jamal Malik (Dev Patel), an 18-year-old who's been experiencing a stretch of good fortune lately on the Indian version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'
Jamal carves out a living serving tea at a local call center, but tonight, he's one question away from walking out a millionaire.
As the country gears up to hear Jamal's final answer, some onlookers have grown suspicious. Jamal is a slumdog, after all - a kid from the Mumbai ghetto. How could he, with no formal education to speak of, be one question away from winning the grand prize?
The show's host (played to smug perfection by Anil Kapoor) certainly isn't buying it. He's convinced that Jamal has figured out a way to cheat the system. And at his behest, the police have decided to do something about it.
It's a rare film that can open with scenes of torture and camera falsa still maintain its feel-good destination, but 'Slumdog' stays on course. Jamal won't confess to anything under torture - mostly because he's been beaten into unconsciousness - so the police lieutenant (Irrfan Khan) sent to investigate tries a different approach.
With a video recording of the show before them, he demands that Jamal account for each response. What the lieutenant ends up with is more than just an explanation. He gets Jamal's life story.
Adapted from the novel by Vikas Swarup, camera holder 'Slumdog Millionaire,' envisions a childhood for its leading man that is less than ideal, even if it is visually picturesque. These visions are of huddled shacks, camera installation pay-as-you-go outhouses and community watering holes where women gather to chat and do their laundry.
This may be squalor, but young Jamal (Ayush Mahesh Khedekar) and his brother Salim (Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail) don't seem to mind. They still indulge in happy pastimes, from hero-worship of a Bollywood movie star to playing pranksdodging grown-ups. In one incredible scenethey race through the streets of Mumbai as the camera pulls away for an aerial view of the city's many tin-roofed shacks.

Nokia Launches Handset To Rival IPhone
On Tuesday, Nokia, the world's largest mobile handset manufacturer, launched the N97 handset and also showcased updates to its navigation and genius camera messaging services. The latest set will act as another potential rival to Apple's iPhone.
In the first half of 2009, the N97, Nokia's second touch-screen device in as many months, will begin shipping.
It was described as the most powerful mobile computer the world has ever seen by the company's president and CEO, camera discrete Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo.
This latest handset by the Finnish company is being seen as an attempt to regain lost ground in the touch-screen market. The features of the N97 includes 3.5-inch, 16:9 touch-screen, up to 48 GB of storage, a Qwerty keyboard, camera falsa 5-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash, A-GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System), HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and Wi-Fi.

The team is out on San Diego to investigate a couple of boats. They are on the lookout for the Fedora Man and use the K-II meter sparsely. Plus, find out what trade Tango has been learning since he was just a wee lass or he'll have to ring your bell!
I am back! Ghost Hunters is back! Kris Williams is back! You know what's not back? The turkey I ate last Thursday. Hope everyone had a good holiday and enjoyed a break from Ghost Hunters last week. Maybe the boys will be out looking for the ghost of said turkey.
I guess after the show a couple of weeks ago, Kris Williams broke out the news that she had finally signed a new contract and is back on the ghost tour. I still believe that it was the contract issue that kept her off the Halloween and results show, otherwise, why wouldn't they mention her at all? She is one of five main characters and they didn't even get close to mentioning her name.and they already recast the 'chick' role on top of that. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I can honestly say that I am glad Kris is back because as much as it pains me to say this; she had become one of the more trusted ghost hunters on the show. Steve and Tango are ghost hunters in name only at this point, and we never really know what Jason and Grant are up to. That leaves just Kris. Well, and now Amy. Please don't let them be some all girl scream team like other shows. I hate to say it, but the watchability of this program pretty much falls on their shoulders. No pressure.

Our peoples are in San Diego, named after a Whale's Vagina. Apparently, there are two ships on one site. Is this two investigations or just one long one? Kris tells the boys that the ships are haunted. She gets into more detail, but it's nothing you haven't heard before or won't hear again when they get the tour. Steve says he likes doing the boats, which is odd because he is scared of everything else, except ghosts. And human skeletons that he likes to make dance for him.

The Investigation
The first boat is the Star of India. The guy who writes the Garfield comic strips is wondering if his boat is haunted. Hey, he looks nothing like the guy who is supposed to be living in Muncie! Some kid fell out of a high spot on the boat and took three days to die. The Salon is very haunted, because every salon is haunted. They see shadow people and apparitions here. Lots of footsteps. I guarantee Jason and Grant hear some footsteps. I'll give you 2-1 odds. Any takers? Ouch. One dude got wrapped up in the chain for the anchor and got smashed.
Off to the Ferry Boat The Berkeley. More footsteps Jason and Grant are going to cream themselves. A guy blew himself up in the restroom and let's just say it was unpleasant. There's a guy called the Fedora Man who looks like those black cardboard cutouts that people put in their yard of a guy leaning against a tree. This guy is the model! Jason claims to have his hands full and his hands are in his pockets. Hey, I just make observations people. They decide to start with the Berkeley. Amy is here. For the chauvinistic among us, she's the one with the red hair. It's important to know that the girls have different colored hair. Why? I have no idea.
Some random dude named Britt shows up and says he's part of the TAPS West Coast team, though neither Jason or Grant have acknowledged him. I think he might be the nephew of the director or something. Or just random dude who saw the cameras.

Jason and Grant are on The Berkeley immediately looking for footsteps. We need to go to commercial so they should hear something in 5.4.32.1. They hear something. Dramatic head turn and cue.
COMMERCIALS. By the way, you guys should be watching both Chase and Estate of Panic. They're good shows.
We are all of two minutes into the investigation and Jason and Grant hear 'mysterious footprints.' Jason verifies to us that they heard something by saying they 'really' heard something. I'm glad he cleared that up. They don't hear the sound again so Jason actually says it could be some sound traveling. Eh, this place will still be haunted.
Kris, Amy and Britt are on the top floor. Britt is with the girls because really, what are the girls going to do if they find out he is just a bum looking for some food? Britt is a poor man's Joe Chin. A really poor man.
Steve and Tango are in the storage area that used to be the bathroom where the kid blew up. Tango is getting sea sickness. He says he gets motion sickness. He thinks maybe that's why people feel uncomfortable there. I don't think Tango likes roller coasters.
Jason and Grant are going into the boiler room. Watch out for long fingernails scraping against the side of the boat. They are getting really high EMF readings that is creating a fearcage. Hey! That's the buzzword from last season you guys don't get bonus money for that one anymore.
Steve and Tango are headed down some stairs. Steve sees some bells. He wants his bonus money so he decides to ring them though that is highly inappropriate during a ghost hunt. It doesn't matter, on the 'sit down' show they showed a highlight reel of him being inappropriate and commended him for it. I think it is hilarious that the scary music is playing over Tango talking about how pretty it sounds when he rings his hand bell. There's some crap about pistol shrimp or something, but really, who cares? It's just Steve and Tango. They're not real ghost hunters.

I am surprised that Jason isn't grumpier than he is. Usually the further away from Rhode Island they are, the more pissy he is. Let's see, new investigation and we haven't been to commercial in a while. Lights are out. Jason, Grant and Britt are in the rear salon. They break out the K-2. And here we go. 5.43.21.Britt hears something. Damnit! They are taking too long for the dramatic head turn. It totally ruined my countdown. Now they are hearing footsteps. Ah, Jason gives the dramatic look up and we're out!
COMMERCIALS.
They are all hearing footsteps above them. Grant says there is no one there, but for all I know it could be Steve who saw all the boards and couldn't stop himself from trying to riverdance. Jason says they got audio of the footsteps. Jason breaks out the whole water as a conducer theory. That's good because they are in the middle of the ocean, you see. They are hearing crazy footsteps above them now. Grant chases the footsteps, but to no avail. This is so exciting, I just spent a minute trying to figure out what one of my presents under my Christmas tree was. When I was done, they were still doing pretty much the same thing. They smell some sort of odd chemical, and by the transitive location far way from Rhode Island rule, they are required to use the term 'wicked' to describe it. Jason was on his way to check out footsteps above them when he saw something in the thermal. That is quickly forgotten as they supposedly see a shadow walking on the tweendeck. I didn't see it, but I'm sure they'll have video or something. Now they see stuff by the back window.
More importantly, there is a new Sci-fi original movie coming out on Saturday, Cyclops.
They hear a loud bang which caused them to 'Dude, Run!' which I guess is okay this season as opposed to season one. Jason saw a shadow on the top deck so he bows out to Steve and Tango.
Steve and Tango are on the ship and all the tension is immediately gone as the 'wacky ghost hunter' music starts to play. Instead of gasp ghost hunting, Steve wants to talk about how he would decorate his unborn children's room. He gets tired of that so he needs to go to the other end of the boat and sit down. They're actually doing EVP work when they hear what Tango describes as a 'sea monster' swimming outside the boat. They found nothing. Imagine that.
Kris and Amy are on the boat. Amy saw something pass by a light so this is as good a time to take a commercial break as any.
I think they are in the same area of the boat that Jason and Grant saw all the shadows, but I'm not sure. Kris wants Jason and Grant to walk by the top of the boat to see if a shadow was coming into the hole from the top. They walk around on top, but no shadow is being projected below. Jason tells Kris to never question a shadow, that it always means a haunting and don't try to debunk it. Well, I read between the lines a little bit. Scared that she might try and debunk something else, Jason calls it a night. At this point, they have nothing but personal experiences. Maybe they got something on tape.
The Analysis
Amy gets stuck with Dave and Steve doing the reviewing. I best she was pissed when Kris signed on again. Now she has to do this stuff all the time. They see the 'person' through the thermal and Dave debunks it as a reflection. They did manage to get an EVP that says 'Get off my ship.' You think there is a reason that all of TAPS EVPs tell them to go away? It's never like 'Hey, what's up fellas?'
The Findings
Everyone is here except for Joe Chin wannabe. Steve says they got nothing on the Berkley. They play the EVP for Jason and Grant. On the thermal, some red blob like thing mysteriously shows up. Also, a gate moves on its own.
The Reveal
Next week is the season finale. They have new crazy music that I don't like playing while they are talking to Garfield man. Grant explains the fearcage to him. Jason tells Jim that doesn't mean they disproved everything that has happened on the ship. Reading between the lines I took it to mean that Jim could still have ghost tours and use their name to make money. TAPS is proud to help their customers make money. Woah! Jason actually says The Berkeley is not haunted. I had to stop my DVR and digital camera with optical viewfinder collect myself. Is the table too high, or do these guys just all have bad posture. They play footsteps with a limp for Jim who smiles real big because he is counting the money in his head. They play the EVP and the thermal image. I'm glad they mentioned that the camera was stationary because I was wondering why it wasn't moving. Jason actually says they can't call it supernatural because they just don't know what it is. They show the gate moving and even kind of prod the guy about whether or not it moves regularly because the ship moves. Of course, he says he doesn't think so.

Overall: This wasn't a bad episode, but it wasn't a good episode either. It was a tweener. There didn't seem like there was that much action and it drug on. It may just be that I am finding that following TAPS is becoming a chore. Amy seems okay and as long as they don't start getting jumpy I think that she and camera professionnel Kris are going to be my favorite team, which really isn't saying a whole lot. I wonder if Pilgrim Films has re-edited this since the Halloween special. I've notice the last couple of episodes they have shown more of Steve and clock camera Tango ghost hunting than goofing off. There was about a four or five episode stretch where these two didn't ghost hunt a lick, and that includes the Halloween special. I will be glad to see Season Four come to an end next week because let's be honest, as a whole, it has been terrible. I watch a couple of episodes from Season One a few weeks ago and the only way you can even tell it's the same show is that JasonGrant are on it. This is much different than what they set out to do.

I am back! Ghost Hunters is back! Kris Williams is back! You know what's not back? The turkey I ate last Thursday. Hope everyone had a good holiday and enjoyed a break from Ghost Hunters last week. Maybe the boys will be out looking for the ghost of said turkey.
I guess after the show a couple of weeks ago, Kris Williams broke out the news that she had finally signed a new contract and is back on the ghost tour. I still believe that it was the contract issue that kept her off the Halloween and results show, otherwise, why wouldn't they mention her at all? She is one of five main characters and they didn't even get close to mentioning her name.and they already recast the 'chick' role on top of that. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I can honestly say that I am glad Kris is back because as much as it pains me to say this; she had become one of the more trusted ghost hunters on the show. Steve and Tango are ghost hunters in name only at this point, and we never really know what Jason and Grant are up to. That leaves just Kris. Well, and now Amy. Please don't let them be some all girl scream team like other shows. I hate to say it, but the watchability of this program pretty much falls on their shoulders. No pressure.

Our peoples are in San Diego, named after a Whale's Vagina. Apparently, there are two ships on one site. Is this two investigations or just one long one? Kris tells the boys that the ships are haunted. She gets into more detail, but it's nothing you haven't heard before or won't hear again when they get the tour. Steve says he likes doing the boats, which is odd because he is scared of everything else, except ghosts. And human skeletons that he likes to make dance for him.

The Investigation
The first boat is the Star of India. The guy who writes the Garfield comic strips is wondering if his boat is haunted. Hey, he looks nothing like the guy who is supposed to be living in Muncie! Some kid fell out of a high spot on the boat and took three days to die. The Salon is very haunted, because every salon is haunted. They see shadow people and apparitions here. Lots of footsteps. I guarantee Jason and Grant hear some footsteps. I'll give you 2-1 odds. Any takers? Ouch. One dude got wrapped up in the chain for the anchor and got smashed.
Off to the Ferry Boat The Berkeley. More footsteps Jason and Grant are going to cream themselves. A guy blew himself up in the restroom and let's just say it was unpleasant. There's a guy called the Fedora Man who looks like those black cardboard cutouts that people put in their yard of a guy leaning against a tree. This guy is the model! Jason claims to have his hands full and his hands are in his pockets. Hey, I just make observations people. They decide to start with the Berkeley. Amy is here. For the chauvinistic among us, she's the one with the red hair. It's important to know that the girls have different colored hair. Why? I have no idea.
Some random dude named Britt shows up and says he's part of the TAPS West Coast team, though neither Jason or Grant have acknowledged him. I think he might be the nephew of the director or something. Or just random dude who saw the cameras.

Jason and Grant are on The Berkeley immediately looking for footsteps. We need to go to commercial so they should hear something in 5.4.32.1. They hear something. Dramatic head turn and cue.

We are all of two minutes into the investigation and Jason and Grant hear 'mysterious footprints.' Jason verifies to us that they heard something by saying they 'really' heard something. I'm glad he cleared that up. They don't hear the sound again so Jason actually says it could be some sound traveling. Eh, this place will still be haunted.
Kris, Amy and Britt are on the top floor. Britt is with the girls because really, what are the girls going to do if they find out he is just a bum looking for some food? Britt is a poor man's Joe Chin. A really poor man.
Steve and Tango are in the storage area that used to be the bathroom where the kid blew up. Tango is getting sea sickness. He says he gets motion sickness. He thinks maybe that's why people feel uncomfortable there. I don't think Tango likes roller coasters.
Jason and Grant are going into the boiler room. Watch out for long fingernails scraping against the side of the boat. They are getting really high EMF readings that is creating a fearcage. Hey! That's the buzzword from last season you guys don't get bonus money for that one anymore.
Steve and Tango are headed down some stairs. Steve sees some bells. He wants his bonus money so he decides to ring them though that is highly inappropriate during a ghost hunt. Red Wings Very Critical Of Ex-teammate Avery
DETROIT -- Sean Avery was a hard-nosed, scrappy little player with a knack for getting under opponents' skin, and flashed some hockey skills, too, while breaking into the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings seven years ago.
But he also was a ticking time bomb due to his sharp tongue and controversial antics.
The Red Wings traded Avery in 2003. He remains close to some of their players, who again were reminded of his notorious nature following a disparaging comment the Dallas Stars forward made about a former girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert, who is dating Calgary's Dion Phaneuf.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suspended Avery pending a hearing today -- putting in doubt his status for the Dec. 12 game against Detroit. Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood said the ban is justified.
'If he's not (suspended) it opens up another door for what players can say, and it's going to get out of control,' Osgood said. 'It's not just adults watching what we say, kids watch what we say on TV. It's a degrading comment. You can't say that about women and can't let boys think that's all right to say about women, or anybody in general.'
Following Tuesday's morning skate in Calgary, Avery summoned reporters in the dressing room and said on camera: 'I am really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my (crude remark about former girlfriends). I don't know what that's about.'
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock, who coached Avery for two seasons in Cincinnati (AHL), said: 'There's no place in our game for that, it's totally unacceptable. I feel terrible for the young girl. It deserves no more attention.'
Avery issued an apology on Wednesday, saying in a statement: 'I should not have made those comments and digital camera macro I recognize that they were inappropriate. I am now acutely aware of how hurtful my actions were. I caused unnecessary embarrassment to my peers as well as people I have been close with in the past.'
Chris Chelios said he had to kick Avery out of his house after living with him for three weeks during the NHL lockout in 2004-05, when they were playing for the UHL's Motor City Mechanics.
'He turned my house upside down,' Chelios said. 'It was funny, but after a while ... '
Chelios said 'anything goes on the ice,' but added, 'there are certain lines you don't cross.
'I wouldn't listen to anything he says, because sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's just dumb,' Chelios said. 'He was never a problem here. He said dumb things, but we had such a veteran team, guys like Mac (Darren McCarty) and Shanny (Brendan Shanahan) would straighten him out if he stepped out of line.
'Hopefully, he won't miss too much time and he'll learn his lesson. He's not a bad kid, he's just had bad judgment once in a while.'
Kris Draper trains with Avery for a few weeks every summer in Toronto. He echoed Chelios' sentiments that Avery is 'a good guy' with poor judgment. But Draper questioned whether a comment deserved the same punishment as a dirty on-ice hit.
'The one thing I've always said about Aves is, if he would just keep his mouth shut and play the game he'd be a very effective hockey player,' Draper said. 'I've tried to tell him that. I'm sure I haven't been the only one.'
Stars co-general manager Brett Hull, who lived with Avery when they were teammates in Detroit, signed Avery to a four-year, $15.5 million free-agent contract in July. Dallas is off to a horrible start, and Avery appears to have disrupted team chemistry.
'After a while it gets tiresome, it becomes a distraction for the team, constantly talking about what he's going to do next,' Osgood said. 'From some of the comments their players are saying, I think they've grown tired of it a little bit.'
Wings miss Luongo again
The Red Wings tonight host a Vancouver team that's missing its No. 1 goaltender, Roberto Luongo, due to a groin injury, and might not have its backup, Curtis Sanford, either. Rookie Cory Schneider could get the start, after Sanford left Monday's game in Columbus because of back pain.
Due to a scheduling quirk, this is the fourth and final meeting of the season between these clubs. Detroit has yet to face Nashville, Colorado, Minnesota, Dallas or Phoenix in the West. The Canucks have won twice in overtime, including 3-2 on Nov. 24 with Sanford in net, and the Red Wings won once in regulation.
Hospital visit boosts spirits
The Red Wings made their annual visit to Children's Hospital of Michigan after practice Wednesday, handing out gifts and camera monitor memorabilia to ailing kids.
'I believe one of the gifts of our profession is giving you a certain amount of notoriety that you're allowed to help other people, and explosion proof camera one of the things I cherish the most,' Babcock said. 'These kids battle hard and they're an inspiration to all of us. I really believe the toughest thing you'll ever see with kids like that is their parents and what a burdenblow it is for them. It's a thrill to go over there to see the kids' faces light up.'

Police Drop Speeding Fine After Emergency Rush To Give Birth
It was the perfect excuse - she was about to give birth, he was under instructions to drive her to hospital as fast as possible.
The trouble is they were pinged by a speed camera doing 73 kilometres an hour in a 50 zone.
The police issued a ticket and wouldn't back down - until today
Kayden Robinson's entry into the world was a speedy one - his father copped a $170 fine as he rushed his partner to hospital after complications during a home birth.
Mother Kim Wallis says it was a genuine life or death dash after her baby's umbilical cord got in the way.
'It would have killed him his head would have put pressure on the chord and camera grip it would have cut off his oxygen it would have killed him,' says Wallis.
When the midwife discovered the problem, she sent Wallis straight to hospital for an emergency Caesarean section.
Wallis's then partner wouldn't be interviewed about his mercy dash today but he wrote to the police saying: 'The midwife ordered myself to ready my car as there was no time to source an ambulance. I rushed Kim in my car to Dunedin Hospital. On the way I noticed the flash of the speed camera but as you could imagine this was not my prime concern.'
3 News consulted another midwife who confirmed the need for speed.
Jacquie Newell told 3 News: 'It's probably one of the most serious situations you can have.
'There's absolutely no way that baby can be born naturally and the only way that baby can be born alive is by emergency Caesarean section.'
But the police weren't persuaded, concorsi camera di commercio saying: 'Whilst the reason you provide is understood, the amount of excess speed involved is too great for a warning to be given notwithstanding the advised circumstances.'
But when 3 News enquired today the police cited human error and quickly dropped the fine.

Penguins Notebook: Orpik Not Surprised By Avery S Comments
NEW YORK -- No one knew exactly what Dallas winger Sean Avery would do or say, and they certainly couldn't tell when it would happen.
But no one familiar with the body of his work in the NHL seemed particularly stunned to learn that on Tuesday, Avery made a controversial remark that earned him an indefinite suspension by the league.
After the Stars' game-day skate in Calgary, Avery -- having made certain there was a TV camera nearby -- convened an impromptu session with reporters. He declined to field questions, but volunteered a statement that included a reference to how 'it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my [former girlfriends].' Those ex-girlfriends were referred to by a crude, sexually charged term.
'I wasn't surprised by his comments,' Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik said. 'I think everyone's kind of used to him making a fool of himself.' However, Orpik said the league office might have overreacted by suspending Avery.
Avery has a hearing with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman today at the league office in Manhattan to discuss the incident and his suspension, the latter of which is supported by Penguins center Sidney Crosby.
'I agree with it,' Crosby said. 'You can't say stuff like that. There are a lot of things said on the ice, and candid camera sexi that's where it should stay.'
New coach in Carolina
The Penguins' challenge to take two points from Carolina tonight at the RBC Center probably got a whole lot tougher when Paul Maurice replaced Peter Laviolette as coach of the Hurricanes yesterday.
Not so much because Maurice, who begins his second stint in that position, is necessarily an upgrade on Laviolette, but because teams routinely perform with renewed vigorfocus when there is a new boss.
'For sure, they're going to be at their best,' Penguins coach Michel Therrien said. 'It's not an easy thing for a team to play against whenever there's a new coach, or new management, digital concepts camera because players want to prove to the [newcomer] that he should have some faith in their game.'
Former Penguins center Ron Francis, who has been the Hurricanes' assistant general manager for the past 14 months, was made associate coach.
Letang looks for new groove

Judge S Ruling Raises Questions
DALLAS A Dallas judge has issued a civil court ruling that a company has no authority to monitor intersections with red-light cameras unless it holds a license as an investigations company.
State District Judge Craig Smith said in an opinion late last month that ACS State and camera mirage Local Solutions violated the Texas Occupations Code.
But the city of Dallas, which contracts with ACS, said Tuesday that the ruling won't affect its red-light camera system.
Furthermore, lawyers with the Texas Department of Public Safety, which issues investigative licenses, have said they don't believe such companies need to be licensed.
Smith asked ACS to respond to his ruling by the end of this week. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
ACS denies any wrongdoing and 'will continue to defend our position,' spokesman Kevin Lightfoot told The Dallas Morning News for its Wednesday online editions. He said the company does not believe it is in violation of any local laws or regulations.
Smith's ruling has led to two federal class-action lawsuits involving red-light camera companies Redflex Traffic Systems and camera quebec American Traffic Solutions, camera monitor both based in Arizona. Neither is licensed in Texas.
Dallas attorney Lloyd Ward filed the original civil case against ACS after his wife got a citation in 2007 from Dallas and ACS. He also filed the class-action suits after the judge's ruling.
Ward is asking the companies to reimburse thousands of motorists who paid fines.
Josh Weiss, a spokesman with ATS, says his company is looking to hire legal counsel and 'will work closely with our partners on appropriate next steps to ensure this case is quickly dismissed.'
A call made to Redflex by The Associated Press was not immediately returned on Wednesday night.
Red-light camera violations are civilnot criminal matters. Citations in Dallas typically run $75do not count against driving or insurance records. Cities generally receive a portion of the fines.

Dallas Red-Light Camera Lawsuit Prompts CS Man To Appeal Fine
Jim Ash has been on the computer a lot lately.
'I just started digging on it from every angle I could think of,' said Ash.
The College Station resident has been researching red-light tickets. In September, Jim's white car was caught running a College Station red-light. He's seen the video, and explosion proof camera already paid the fine, but Jim is appealing it.
'Red-light camera laws have spawned hundreds of lawsuits relating to their use, their function, the gathering of information, what they're gonna do with it,' said Ash.
However, Ash is appealing based on a Dallas civil court ruling a few weeks ago. In a summary judgement, camera monitor the judge found that a red-light camera company that operates in the metroplex did not have a license the Texas occupation code requires.
Under the code, employees must be licensed as part of an investigations company, or they have no authority to monitor intersections.
Now the red-light camera company College Station- and many other Texas cities use- has been named in a federal class-action lawsuit. American Traffic Solutions, or ATS, camera tron is based in Arizona and is not licensed in Texas.
Its unclear what the outcome of that lawsuit will be, or how Ash's appeal will go Thursday.
'There's thousands of pieces of information that are out there. Only one of them is neededthat is that 192nd district court judge ruling,' said Ash.
City attorneys for College Station say they will look into the Dallas judge's ruling. A spokesperson for the College Station Police Department says the department has heard of no changes to its red-light camera program.
The lawsuit filed in Dallas began when Dallas attorney Lloyd Ward's wife received a fine issued from a red-light camera. When the couple refused to pay the red-light camera company threatened to report them to a credit bureau.
The Wards then took the company to court. Ward now wants red-light camera companies to repay everyone who was issued a red-light camera fine in Texas.
'If you're going to obtain information for purposes of prosecution before a court board office investigation committee you have to have appropriate licensing,' said Ward.
'The occupational code provision he is relying on really is generated at individuals. Here we're talking about a machine basically that is installed to capture an event,' said attorney Jim Harris of Thompson & Knight Law Firm.
Both parties have until Friday to submit a response to the judge's order.

Caught On Camera: Rare And Elusive Animals

SEATTLE -- A lynx sighting is rare in Washington, and rarer still are any of resident gray wolves, once thought to have disappeared from the state in the 1930s.
But citizen wildlife monitors have snapped rare photographs of these and other elusive animals using remote cameras placed in forests and valleys throughout the Cascade Range, adding to the knowledge of little-seen and threatened wildlife.
'There was a great diversity of species recorded on our cameras,' said Marlo Mytty, a coordinator with the Cascades Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project. 'You don't realize or think about all the wildlife that's out there that you're not seeing.'
Volunteers monitored wildlife using 43 tree-mounted cameras that were triggered by motion sensors and captured thousands of photographs of wildlife this year.
The report released Wednesday documents more than 16 mammal species, including bobcat, elk, black bear, cougar, porcupine and marten, a rare member of the weasel family.
But the biggest stars, by far, were gray wolves.
Cameras in Okanogan County's Methow Valley caught the first image of an adult wolf in May, and later six pups in July. A pup rolls on the ground in one shot, while an adult wolf carries off a leg bone with hooves in another.
The project also produced rare glimpses of a Cascades red fox in Kittitas County's Teanaway area and the long-legged lynx in the Pasayten Wilderness. Lynx, the rarest of the cat species in Washington, were once widespread but now number only a few dozen.
More than 50 volunteers worked on the project. They mounted cameras on trees close to trails and forest paths where certain wildlife were most likely to be found. They set out lures, monitored cameras and sorted through thousands of digital images and some video clips.
'It was really amazing to see an engagement of volunteers,' Mytty said. 'People got excited about wildlife in the Cascades.'
Confirming the presence of wildlife also helps inform land management decisions and wildlife recovery, she said.
Along Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie Pass, seven project cameras have helped transportation planners and others get a better picture of the wildlife that inhabits the area.
A $1 billion project to rebuild parts of I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass will include wildlife bridges and underpasses to lure animals away from the road when construction starts next year.
'The case for the proposed over- and camera tron underpass was made clear by the photographs of elk and consumer reports best digital camera deer that we kept getting,' said Jen Watkins, project director of the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition and camera monitor for Conservation Northwest, which has been operating cameras in the state for years.
The Wilderness Awareness School was also involved in the project.
Watkins said the project engages and educates citizens in wildlife science while documenting raresensitive wildlife in the Cascades.

German Tabloid Hopes Camera Offer In Lidl Will Widen Exposure
Germany's bestselling newspaper is looking to expand without the expense of actually hiring new reporters.
Bild has joined up with discount supermarket chain Lidl to sell a basic digital camera to a legion of citizen journalists, who the tabloid hopes will contribute images to its coverage.
'We can't cover everything,' said Michael Paustian, a Bild managing editor. 'We think it is an advance for journalism.'
The pocket-sized camera has 2GB of memory, can shoot still pictures and video, and digital camera macro costs 69.99 ( 60). It comes with software and explosion proof camera a USB port that allows 'reader-reporters' to upload content directly to editors who will be assigned to review it for publication.
Bild spokesman Tobias Fr hlich said the goal was to encourage camera owners to seek the widest exposure for their work. 'It's not about exclusivity,' he said.
The move fits in with a broader trend for traditional media to turn their increasingly interactive readers into news providers.
Vancouver-based NowPublic.com gathers photographs, video clips and news tips from the public and distributes them to news organisations. The trend is likely to continue as traditional news providers scramble to match the migration of readers and camera mirage advertisers to the internet.
Bild, known for breaking major political stories as well as front-page splashes on zoo animals and celebrities, will use the new cameras to streamline an existing scheme that brings in thousands of photos each day by email and text message, Fr hlich said. The paper has published 9,000 of those images since 2006.
He said Bild may pay for the best ones it uses or establish a contest for the best content submitted each week; details would be worked out after gauging demand for the cameras that go on sale today.
Some worry that Bild's new media experiment will lower standards and interfere with professional reporting.
'It poses a threat to quality journalism, the more images from non-professionals that are pushed on to the market even though professional images are available,' said Eva Werner, a spokeswoman for the German Journalists' Association
But Paustian thought the opposite was true. 'We're not YouTube,' he said. 'Every contribution will be viewed, reviewedjournalistically evaluated.'

Texas School District Investigating Bus Driver
PLANO, Texas Suburban Dallas school officials were investigating a bus driver seen in video surveillance swatting and grabbing a seventh-grader inside the parked bus.
Video obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday shows the bus driver putting her hands on Kaleb Khonsari, 13. She then swats him. Later, she grabs him and pulls him back to his first row seat. The footage recorded by a school bus camera in late November first aired on Dallas television station WFAA this week.
The female employee, whose name was not released, was on paid administrative leave and camera professionnel district officials were investigating, said Nancy Long, spokeswoman for the Plano Independent School District.
'Plano ISD takes all allegations very seriously,' she said in a statement.
Before the bus driver became physically aggressive with Kaleb, she had been scolding him for talking to another student and camera monitor yelling in the bus. Kaleb also got up from his seat several times while the bus was parked.
Although her son is hyperactive and has discipline problems, Jennifer Khonsari told WFAA that does not excuse the bus driver's behavior.
'Nobody has the right to touch my child except me,' she said.
Kaleb told the station that he was constantly harassed by the driver.
'She did it maybe three or four times,' Kaleb said of the spankings. 'Then she choked me once, and camera tron then she like pushed me like two timesthen she threw me against the seat once.'
Those actions were not shown in the two recordings provided by the school district.
The bus, like other Plano school buses, had a camera on board that captured the argument.
At one point, the driver tells the boy 'They ain't gonna take your word.' She later points out there's a camera aboard the bus.
Earlier this year, WFAA broadcast video of a different school bus driver in another school district choking a mentally disabled child on a moving bus after the restless boy hurled an aluminum can through the aisle. A grand jury will determine whether the woman, who worked for an agency that provides transportation for Dallas schools, should face criminal charges.

State Lawmakers Hold Traffic Camera Hearings

Red light cameras in Jackson have netted thousands in violations since they were placed at 8 intersections in October.
Offenders are charged $75.00 for running a red light.
A joint committee of lawmakers heard from the company that operates those cameras Wednesday morning. American Traffic Solutions wants to expand services statewide.

'The photographing and video-recording of a vehicle, or the subsequent use of the resulting images in a municipal hearing, are not the functions of an investigation company as defined by Private Security Act and do not require a license under the Act,' they said in a prepared statement.
